TINY NOTES. BIG IMPACT.

About A Note to My Principal

Mission Statement

We’re on a mission to help students feel safe, heard, and confident sharing what’s on their hearts—one note at a time.

Our Story

In January 2024, when Emma Lane Babcock was just eight years old, a classmate shared a difficult story about her home life. Emma Lane suggested she talk to their teacher or principal, but the friend didn’t feel confident enough to speak up. That moment sparked something in Emma Lane—a desire to help students share what’s on their minds in a way that feels safe and supportive. With a little journaling and a lot of heart, A Note to My PrinciPal was born.

A Note to My PrinciPal is a nonprofit that provides schools with custom mailboxes so students can write private notes to their principal–whether it’s to say they love their playground or express their struggles. By February, the first mobile mailbox was placed at an elementary school, allowing students to easily send notes to their principal. Today, more than 15 mailboxes are active, helping over 5,000 students. Emma Lane’s goal? To place mailboxes in 1,000 schools by the end of 2025, so every student who needs a quiet way to speak up can do just that.
